In January 2008, we were asked to exhibit at the Heard Museum. The space was 1,000 square feet and we decided to make the most of every inch. We decided to create the fantasy home that people think we live in! The result is more than 500 pieces of handmade art!
Their most popular works are custom-made shadow boxes filled with bright-colored art, glitter and high-gloss finishes that depict room interiors. Although they help others incorporate crafty chic into their lives, the two artists haven't had the time to decorate their own home in their trademark style.
The Heard Museum exhibition La Casa Murillo: A Life-Size Shadow Box reflects their fantasy home.

In fall 2009, Kathy was asked to participate in am art project to celebrate the opening of Barneys New York in Scottsdale, AZ.
The assignment was to decorate a mannequin. Kathy's piece, title, "The Light Within" was her contribution. The mannequin is now on a mini-tour across California!
Artist's statement: "the light within". As long as you keep positivity and empowerment under your skin, your true colors will shine through - coated with a layer of glitter and varnish, of course!
On the front is a wonderful quote by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. I added my own "crafty chica'isms' as well as quotes from Maya Angelou and Eleanor Roosevelt.
